Declutter
Decluttering is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Before you start to decorate, remove everything out of the room and start fresh by only bringing back in the real necessities. Theres no room for hoarding in small bedrooms!

White is Right
White paint is the easiest and most powerful way to open up a space and make a room feel naturally larger. Look to use light coloured linen with a combination of different textures rather than mixing and matching with bold colours.

Downsize
If you are styling your house for sale don't try and squeeze oversized beds into small rooms. A bed ensemble will take up much less space than a bed with a frame. Where possible opt for a single bed pushed up against a wall and for master bedrooms choose a double bed over a queen or king to optimise space and create the feel of a bigger bedroom for potential buyers.

Under-bed Storage
To avoid filling up the floor with storage furniture, choose a bed that has hidden storage underneath. A bed with pull-out draws underneath will create more floor space and often provide more storage than a chest of draws.

Mirrors
If your small bedroom has build-in wardrobes, mirrored cupboard doors will have a positive visual impact making the room appear larger. If you don't have built-ins put a mirror on a blank wall rather than a piece of art.
